Lizzo Has Done it Again with Album ‘Special’
You should come little surprise to anyone that has read in any of my writings that I will send to Lizo. I have long appreciate her music as the guiding light and vehicle to self love, confidence and black girl joy. But with this new album that she released on July 17, 2022, I have to stand in the pause. She has done it again with an album about love. From love songs to herself like "I love you bitch" two songs that wrap themselves around you and it remind you of the value of your life like "special" the album is amazing.
The album is also radical and revolutionary. The album has been released at the heels of Kendrick Lamar's album ‘Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers’ which is full of thought-provoking and internal dialogue about his experience and revelations within the past two years. My cri crazy audacity of Lizzo. Popular society demands of black women to be woefully woke, N-Toon and constantly fighting for the cause. But Audrey Lord said that the most radical thing you can do is to rest and give yourself care. Lizzo has reminded me worthy to have happiness in these perilous times. This album is helping me to retain my desire to live in try again every morning.
I know that is a heavy weight for an album. I believe that Lizzo had an intent with this album.
